Introduction:
Traditionally, the men’s clothing industry has been divided into firms that produce tailored suits, coats and trousers and furnishing producers that makes shirt, ties, underwear and sleepwear. Tailored garment production used to dominate the industry, but with the trend toward casual dress for men, there has been a growing demand for sportswear. The production of men’s sportswear is similar to that of women’s.

Production of a man’s suit, however, can require more than 100 steps. But modern technology has introduced automation, that means traditionally handwork oriented. Hand tailoring can be found in only the most expensive suits.

Production Flowchart of of Men’s Suits :
Fuse or hand-stitch interfacing and jump-baste chest pieces and bridal tape on lapel crease for support.

Press, line and stitch on pockets.

Join main pieces together.

Set in sleeves.

Set in linings by machine or, in the case of an unlined jacket, bind seam edges.

Sew buttons and buttonholes.
